Youth Retreat – Udupi

The Youth Retreat on 19 March at 5:00 p.m. at Mother of Sorrows Church was a deeply spiritual and heart-touching experience, attended by 100–150 youth and parents. The day began with the Holy Mass, followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, creating a sacred and prayerful atmosphere.

Rev. Fr. Franklin Dsouza, Director of the Youth Commission of Shimoga Diocese, led reflections from the Psalms and Proverbs, encouraging youth to trust God, pray faithfully, and live with faith. He shared his joy at seeing youth spread God’s Word through service and active participation worldwide, while also reminding all of the heartbreak when young lives lose direction or fall into despair. He highlighted Pope John Paul II’s vision, who in 1985 started World Youth Day to inspire youth to grow in faith, serve others, and witness God’s love.

A moving moment was when parents blessed their children, who knelt and touched their parents’ feet in gratitude. Prayers for departed loved ones, individual blessings with hands laid on heads, and the choir, led by Br. William, with uplifting hymns enriched the spiritual atmosphere.

Message to Youth,

“Your life is a gift from God. Let prayer be your strength, faith your guide, and love your language.”

The retreat concluded with a fellowship meal..
