St. Mary’s Industrial Training Institute, Chitpady – Udupi
The government of India has set an ambitious target to impart skills to young people and secure jobs as part of the National Skills Development Policy. St. Mary’s Industrial Training Institute (I.T.I), situated in Chitpady, Udupi, plays an important role in providing industrial employment-oriented Vocational Training to the youth, contributing positively towards youth employment, technical advancement, industrialization, and the development of our nation.
MANAGEMENT:
St. Mary’s ITI was established in November 1985 at Chitpady, Udupi, by Late Rev. Fr. Joseph Peter Tauro. Presently, this Institute is under the Management of the Catholic Education Society of Udupi (CESU) and administrated by the parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi, along with the parish council members.

St. Mary’s ITI is permanently affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.

Note: PUC 1st year/2nd year pass or failed, Diploma failed candidates can also apply and join the course.
Additional benefits after completing ITI course:
• ITI Craftsmen can join the industry as a Technician and progress further to Senior Technician, Supervisor, and can rise up to the level of Manager.
• They can become an Entrepreneur in the related field.
• They can appear in the 10+2 examination through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for acquiring a higher secondary certificate and can pursue further General/Technical education.
• They can take admission in a 3-year diploma course in eligible branches of Engineering by lateral entry (directly into the 2nd year), including Evening Polytechnics.
• Join an Apprenticeship program in different types of industries leading to a National Apprenticeship certificate (NAC).
• Join the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) in the trade for becoming an instructor in ITIs.
• Join Advanced Diploma (Vocational) courses under DGT as applicable.
Academic Information:
Admission:
• Admission is open to all candidates within the age group of 15-40 years.
• A candidate who has successfully completed S.S.L.C / 10th standard is eligible for admission.
• Applications are invited from the month of April every academic year.
• Admission approval is done according to the rules and regulations of DGET.
Campus Selection/Placement:
• More than 95% of students are placed through campus or off-campus selection.
• Note: Out of 84 outgoing students, 58 students were placed before the final examination.
Results:
• I year = 98.7%
• II year = 98.6%
Development Projects completed:
• Tin Sheet Roofing work for the administrative block has been completed in October 2023 with the funds collected from Udupi parishioners and well-wishers of St. Mary’s ITI.
