Father’s Day Celebration – Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi | 22.03.2026

The Family Commission and the Commission for Social Development jointly organized a meaningful Father’s Day celebration. The day began at 9.15 a.m. with the Way of the Cross, followed by the Holy Mass, with the Parish Priest, Fr. Charles Menezes, as the main celebrant. Following the Mass, small gathering was held at Ave Maria Hall. The atmosphere was lively and joyful as approx. 60 fathers participated in fun-filled games that encouraged interaction, laughter, and togetherness. A short entertainment segment added colour to the event, showcasing the talents and enthusiasm of the participants, especially the fathers.

The resource person Ms. Liza Rodrigues, delivered a touching and inspiring talk focusing on the emotional and spiritual bond between fathers and their children. She spoke about the importance of communication, understanding, and spending quality time with children, urging fathers to be not just authority figures but also friends and role models.

An important part of the program was an awareness session led by one of the commission members, who encouraged men to actively take part in Self-Help Groups. He highlighted how such groups can empower individuals, strengthen families, and contribute to the overall development of the community.

Fr. Leo Praveen, addressed the gathering and greeted everyone. The celebration concluded with a fellowship meal making it a truly memorable and meaningful Father’s Day celebration.
